My Teaching Philosophy

While music is simply a subject of study, or a means of
creation, or a job, it is ubiquitous. Music is everywhere -
it is always changing, it is always touching and it always
has meaning. To be aware of its effect and its continuous
presence, is to have a gift of a constant source of pleasure,
comfort and release.

Children can become involved in this from an early age and in the process
of being able to understand and experience music, they learn several invaluable
skills. It cannot be argued that patience, discipline and enthusiasm are qualities that we would all love to have more of. Piano study cultivates all three of these skills in such a way that they can be applied to every other aspect of life. Since music is such an intrinsic part of human nature, it can always be experienced.

I think important aspects in teaching are organization, spontaneity, enthusiasm, a sense of humor and goals. Experiencing teaching cultivates these skills which are also important assets to success overall. Henry David Thoreau said, "None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm."

I think that to experience music at an early age, to be a part of it, and even to teach it, one cannot escape having enthusiasm. I teach to become more adept at these skills and foster them in others because I think to have them, and to practice them, is to have purpose and these are all essential to the discipline of happiness.
I have three positions currently opening at my home in Chicago. If you are interested in setting up an interview, contact me.

Does your child need a creative outlet?
Do you want to foster a love of the arts in your son or               daughter?
Do you want to open up new opportunities for your child as he or she gets older?
                       Music may be the answer!
Every child can be a musician.
Music lessons build self-esteem, provide an outlet for creativity, provide an enduring skill which will continue to bring pleasure throughout the student's life, help to develop a sense of responsibility for making an honest effort, develop goal-setting and task-completion skills, develop confidence in facing new situations and challenges, and develop poise and confidence.
